Over the years, my mom and I have given homemade goodies to loads of wonderful people. Mom used to send me on the school bus with a plate of peanut butter fudge – something my bus driver always enjoyed and remembered. (Which, let me tell you, was a true a sneaker-saver on that day I was late for the bus and had to chase it down the street!) Mom and I have also gifted goodies to our mail carriers, grocery store managers, butchers, clients, contractors, teachers, babysitters, helpful retail clerks, neighbors, and of course, close friends. On more than one occasion, someone has remarked, “Oh my! What’s this?”
To us, food is love! Our purpose in making these food gifts at Christmastime is to extend heartfelt thanks to those who have touched our lives throughout the year. And sharing our gifts with others is like a warm hug in a box. Mom and I find such joy in our little tradition…we hope you do too!

Pssst….The candy man can…help you make fab foodie gifts.
There are so many fantastic local candy shops just bursting with ideas for creative gift-givers. If you don’t have a sweet in mind when you pop into your favorite shop looking for gifts, be sure to ask for recommendations. Sometimes a shop owner has a specialty, or a seasonal favorite that could make the perfect gift.
Using pre-made food can be a really smart way to gift. It saves you precious time, supports a small business, and you don’t have to worry about any cleanup!
#2 on our no-fuss DIY Christmas food gift list: Candy Shop Marshmallows (or other store-bought sweet)
We think these over-sized, homemade marshmallows give off an awesome wintery vibe and look really yummy! If marshmallows aren’t your thing, you can really use whatever sweet you like. Let the candy shop do what they do best – the goodies – and you package it for a lovely little gift. Clear cellophane bags showcase gourmet items beautifully, and a little bow adds a pretty touch. Don’t forget to tuck in a business card for the candy maker so your loved ones know where to shop for more!
